Makvärket is a community project in the Danish countryside where different spaces within a large, old ceramics factory that seized operations in the eighties, are being renovated and repurposed for community activities.
The years that I spent there as a volunteer and a resident artist are what allowed me to develop many of the skills that are on display on this website.
The factory consists of 2 large buildings with a gap in between. We covered this gap with a glass roof with the help of a group of “Wandergesellen” from Germany. Actually, they did most of the work.
Over the years since, I’ve been adding artwork to this gap that we call “The Glass Corridor”.
This page is dedicated to that.
Turning Industrial leftovers into light sculptures
In an old factory like this there are all sorts of leftovers. Some, like these, are suspended in the air, begging for some new purpose.
This piece started with an interesting piece of wood found by a friend of mine. He wanted it carved in the image of an old Viking design, and he wanted us to do it together.
That last part didn’t work out, but I did carve the piece after he left, with that inspiration, but taking it loosely.
The credit for this idea goes to him, my friend Michael.
